One of Rocky Point’s most iconic spots, the Malecón (officially Malecón Fundadores) beautifully blends the city’s rich fishing history with today’s vibrant culture. For over 80 years, this lively beachfront boulevard has welcomed massive fishing boats coming and going, making it a must-visit during your stay.

Stretching 450 meters (1,476 feet) along the Sea of Cortez, the Malecón serves as a popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy sunshine, live music, refreshing drinks, and stunning waterfront views. At its heart stands a monumental statue honoring the hardworking shrimp fishermen, surrounded by grand columns, colorful pathways, and inviting benches.

Directly in front of the statue is the charming Plaza Luis Donaldo Colosio, featuring vibrant marine-themed tilework on the stairs and a large, bright “Peñasco” sign at the top — a favorite photo spot for tourists.

The area is lined with dozens of bars, restaurants, and shops that are especially buzzing during holidays like Semana Santa. Street parking is usually easy to find, or you can use the convenient paid lot near the entrance for just $5.
