Meet the Cascara Vacation Rental Family

Cascara Vacation Rentals is our favorite kind of franchise, a family affair! Founded in 1983 by Ed and Sandy Willard, Cascara is now managed by their daughter and her husband, Stacy and Greg Wesson. Cascara Vacation Rentals today manage x homes in the resort communities of Sunriver and Seventh Mountain Resort, and the charming mountain town of Bend.

We caught up with Greg & Stacy Wesson to learn a little more about their family business and our latest Casago franchise in Sunriver, OR.

Casago: Tell us a little about the history of Cascara Vacation Rentals before becoming a Casago franchise.
Greg: Back in 1983, Sandy ran a cleaning business in Sunriver, and Ed figured they could be renting out these homes that sat empty most of the year. Stacy grew up in the family business wearing many different hats along the way and, besides leaving a handful of times, the industry as we all know draws us back in. I received my degree in Marketing & Business and, after getting my master’s in teaching, found my love for marketing too strong to ignore so joined Cascara to take over their marketing department.
We have been in this industry for over 39 years! Ed and Sandy ran the business for over 32 plus years, and Stacy and I have been running it for the last 6 plus. We are a small family run business and enjoy living and working in our local community.
Casago: What led you to join the forces with Casago?
Greg: This industry is changing so fast. With large tech companies coming into the industry and buying out the mom and pop businesses it is starting to lose its family friendly feel. We didn’t want to sell but felt we needed some support to go up against these tech giants. We found all that the Casago franchise had to offer was exactly what our vacation rental company needed.
Casago: Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves?
Stacy: My parents Ed and Sandy still live in the area and are still involved in the business when not traveling or out on the golf course. Greg and I and our 4 kids (Delaney 20, Rosey 17, Henley 6, and Hawk 5) enjoy being outdoors in our wonderful community when not working in the business. So far we haven’t convinced our older kids to join in the business, but maybe the younger two will love it!
Casago: How is Cascara involved in the Local Community?
Greg: We work closely with our local HOA, and Chamber to make sure we are leaving a good neighbor imprint on the full time residents that occupy our area. We have helped out over the years with food drives, school sports, school auctions, end of life trips, and much more.
Our Amazon Smile account supports a local private school which Stacy was on the SROA board that helped create a nuisance property program to help get rid of the bad players in the industry. Stacy is a board and committee junkie and has been on several other boards and committees in the vacation rental industry.
Living and working in a Tree City USA resort, we take our responsibility to the environment as seriously as we take our responsibility to owners and renters alike. We prove our commitment through our use of Green Seal Certified Products. We love our community of Sunriver. It is our honor to make sure we preserve it.
